AI Anime Video Maker — Turn a Sentence Into an Anime-Style Clip

An AI anime video maker turns a written moment into a short anime-style clip: crisp line art, cel shading, big expressive eyes and a dramatic camera. Build the shot below, pick a hero, one action, a place, the weather, an anime look, the light and the camera, and it writes the prompt in the order the model reads best. GenCartoon then turns that one sentence into a short vertical anime-style cartoon with sound, usually in about a minute.

The builder is free and needs no account. Making the clip needs a free account, no card, and a free cartoon is included on many new accounts; on a plan a clip runs 4 to 15 seconds in 480p or HD 720p without the watermark. Every look is described in plain words: no studio, show or character names, so what you make stays your own.

Anime prompt: A young bicycle courier with a red scarf races down a steep hill with a parcel under one arm on a winding seaside road, blossom petals drifting in the wind. Anime style, crisp line art, cel shading, large expressive eyes, vivid colours. Warm golden-hour light with long shadows, fast tracking shot with speed lines.

Why it works

  • Moment: one hero and one action fill a short clip, so the model has room to animate it well.
  • Bright TV anime: clean lines and flat cel shading are what read as anime at a glance, even on a small screen.
  • Blossom petals: drifting petals give the air movement, so even a still pose feels alive.
  • Golden hour: low, warm sun is the classic light for a hopeful moment.
  • Speed-line action: a fast camera and speed lines sell motion in a few seconds.

One hero and one action per clip. Pick the parts or type your own; the prompt keeps them in a fixed order. Copy it, make it, or turn it into an episode.

Anime-style clips made with GenCartoon

Real GenCartoon clips, 4 seconds each, made without the watermark as on a plan: five from this builder’s prompts and one from the cartoon styles page.

From one sentence to an anime-style clip

  1. 1

Pick a hero and one action

A courier racing downhill, a witch’s first spell, a cook tossing noodles: one hero, one action. Type your own or tap a chip.

  2. 2

    Set the scene

Choose where it happens and, if you like, the weather: drifting petals, soft rain, first snow, autumn leaves or fireflies.

  3. 3

Choose the look, light and camera

Five anime looks, from bright TV anime to chibi, then the light and a camera move. Each choice adds a short note on why it works.

  4. 4

Make it, or make it an episode

Make this clip sends the prompt to the AI cartoon maker; Make it an episode sends the moment to Studio 2.0’s Story Agent.

What the builder gives you

  • Anime looks in plain words

Line art, cel shading, painted backgrounds, film grain or speed lines: the words that read as anime, with no names.

  • Why it works, line by line

Every choice says what it does to the shot, and a “then” in the action gets a warning: one clip is one moment.

  • A line in any language

Add one short spoken line; it stays in the language you write it in.

  • Real examples

Five clips made from the builder’s own prompts, with notes on what each render really did.

  • A clip or an episode

One tap to a single clip, or to Studio 2.0 for a short series of episodes.

  • Free, no account

Build and copy as many prompts as you like; nothing renders until you choose to make it.

What makes a clip read as anime

Four things carry the look in a few seconds: clean line art, flat cel shading, large expressive eyes and a camera that commits, such as a low angle, a push-in or a fast tracking shot. Weather and light do the rest: drifting petals, rain on a platform or a golden-hour glow are anime shorthand for a feeling.

Keep it to one hero and one action. A clip is one moment, and the model animates a simple moment far better than a plot; the next beat is the next clip, or a scene in Studio 2.0.

Anime looks compared

The five looks in the builder, the exact words each one adds and what it suits.

LookWords it adds · good for
Bright TV anime“anime style, crisp line art, cel shading, large expressive eyes, vivid colours” · Comedy, everyday moments, big reactions
Painterly anime film“anime film style, soft cel shading, detailed painted backgrounds, glowing light, gentle colours” · Scenery, journeys, quiet feelings
Retro 90s anime“1990s retro anime style, hand-painted cel look, muted colours, soft film grain” · Nostalgia, night scenes, slow drama
Action anime“action anime style, sharp angular line art, dramatic shading, speed lines, intense expressions” · Races, sports, big reveals
Chibi anime“chibi anime style, tiny round bodies, oversized heads, sparkly eyes, bright pastel colours” · Cute gags, pets, sticker-style Shorts

The prompts behind the examples

Each example above is one of these prompts, exactly as the builder wrote it, rendered once. What came out is noted honestly: the model follows the look closely and small actions less so.

ExamplePrompt and what the render did
Bright TV anime · the courier“A young bicycle courier with a red scarf races down a steep hill with a parcel under one arm on a winding seaside road, blossom petals drifting in the wind. Anime style, crisp line art, cel shading, large expressive eyes, vivid colours. Warm golden-hour light with long shadows, fast tracking shot with speed lines. The courier says: "Made it, just in time!"” A wide road shot that tracks in as the courier speeds past, petals all the way down and speed lines in the last second.
Painterly anime film · the fox spirit“A little fox spirit with a glowing tail lights paper lanterns one by one with the tip of its tail at a mountain shrine above the clouds, fireflies glowing all around. Anime film style, soft cel shading, detailed painted backgrounds, glowing light, gentle colours. Silver moonlight with soft blue shadows, slow camera push-in.” Moonlit shrine, clouds and fireflies as asked; the lanterns were already lit, so the tail never lights one. Small actions get lost in a wide night shot.
Retro 90s anime · the noodle cook“A noodle-shop cook with a white headband tosses a giant swirl of noodles high into the air and catches it in a bowl in a tiny noodle shop at night. 1990s retro anime style, hand-painted cel look, muted colours, soft film grain. Neon night glow with pink and blue reflections, low-angle hero shot. The cook says: "Order up!"” Neon, rain-wet street and a big noodle toss. The line also appeared as a painted speech bubble in the first frames, and the shop signs came out as lettering: text in the picture is unreliable.
Action anime · the sky captain“A sky-ship captain with brass goggles grabs the wheel as the ship bursts out of the clouds over a city floating in the sky. Action anime style, sharp angular line art, dramatic shading, speed lines, intense expressions. A stormy sky with flashes of light, wide shot with a huge sky.” Speed lines, lightning and a floating city behind the wheel: the action look holds even in a wide shot.
Chibi anime · the café owner“A café owner with round glasses balances five cups of tea while a kitten climbs her apron in a cosy café full of cats. Chibi anime style, tiny round bodies, oversized heads, sparkly eyes, bright pastel colours. Soft morning haze, slow camera push-in.” Big head, small body, pastel café and a kitten that climbs from the apron onto the tray.

From one shot to an episode

Make it an episode sends your shot to Studio 2.0’s Story Agent, which writes it into scenes with a cast. Every account can make a short series: up to 6 episodes, each one 15-second render of a shot list, with the characters described in the same words every time. All in One adds episodes of 15 seconds to 3 minutes built scene by scene, a reference sheet per character so the cast stays close to its look, and one lip-synced line per scene. To write those lines, use the talking cartoon maker.

What it cannot do

There is no music track, so an anime opening with a song is not one render: make the shots one by one and add the music in a video editor. Named anime characters, shows and studios do not belong in the prompt; describe your own hero instead. It does not turn an existing video into anime. Words painted into the picture, such as signs or speech bubbles, usually come out garbled, so add titles in an editor afterwards.

Your hero, your anime look

Signing up is free, no card, and a free cartoon is included on many new accounts. Plans make clips of 4 to 15 seconds in HD 720p without the watermark.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI make an anime video from text?
Yes. Describe one moment with an anime look (line art, cel shading, a dramatic camera) and GenCartoon turns it into a short anime-style clip with sound. Single clips run 4 to 15 seconds on a paid plan.
Is the anime shot builder free?
Yes, it works in your browser with no account. Making the clip needs an account: signing up is free, no card, and a free cartoon is included on many new accounts.
Can I make an anime opening with music?
Not in one go: there is no music track, and an opening needs many cuts. Render the shots one by one, then add your music in a video editor.
Can I use characters from a famous anime?
No. Describe your own hero instead: their look, outfit and one signature detail. Named characters, shows and studios do not belong in the prompt.
Can my anime character speak Japanese?
Write the line in Japanese and name the language (“says in Japanese”): it keeps the language it is written in. How well non-English speech comes out varies, so try a short clip first.
Can it turn my video or photo into anime?
Not a video: there is no video-to-anime conversion. A photo, yes, as a picture: Photo to Cartoon redraws it as an anime-style image when you type “anime” in its style box, and the first conversion is free.
How long can an anime clip be?
A free cartoon is 4 seconds at 480p. On a plan a single clip runs 4 to 15 seconds, in 480p or HD 720p. Longer stories go to Studio 2.0: 15-second episodes on every account, and episodes of up to 3 minutes on All in One.
